Dalia ElCharbini

“Dalia Elcharbini is a Palestinian-Canadian visual artist based in Toronto, whose work has been collected internationally and featured in museums, galleries and permanent collections across North America. Inspired by her heritage and philosophies she lives by like Taoism, she views her work as a visual journal to document her human journey and navigate through complex feelings like the survivor's guilt she grapples with living as a Palestinian in the diaspora.

Dalia believes art is a form of resistance and a powerful energetic portal for the artist to channel a very intentional energy to be multiplied when the art is collected, exhibited and shared with the world.  “I want my work to exude an intentional energy of resistance and hope, propelling our collective journey towards justice.”

She primarily works with oil, graphite alongside metal leaf such as silver and 24 karat gold leaf. The most premeditated aspect of her creative process is analyzing the way light interacts with her work. This big emphasis on light and its role in the overall composition is what gives her works a whimsical multi-dimensional feel when viewed in real life.

In 2016 Dalia was one of the artist’s chosen to be featured for the opening of the first Palestinian Museum in Washington DC, the Museum of Palestinian People, the first museum devoted to preserving and celebrating Palestinian history, arts, and culture.”
